Fireboy and Watergirl: Ice Temple

Fireboy and Watergirl Ice Temple at a Glance

Fireboy and Watergirl Ice Temple is the third chapter in the much-loved co-op puzzle series created by Oslo Albet. Released in 2012, it sends the two elemental heroes into a frozen maze of slippery floors, chilly pools and shafts of coloured light. You can play the full Ice Temple right here on FireboyandWatergirl.net, straight from your browser, with no download and no account.

The goal will feel familiar to series fans. Guide both heroes to their matching exit doors, collect as many gems as you can, and finish quickly. What makes Fireboy and Watergirl 3 stand out is the ice itself. It changes how each hero moves, so a simple route can turn tricky the moment one of them starts to slide.

When the Floor Turns to Ice

The Ice Temple opens with a short tutorial that explains its new hazards. Ice does not affect both heroes in the same way, and nearly every puzzle in the Ice Temple is built around that difference.

Why Fireboy Skids and Watergirl Grips

On ice, Fireboy speeds up and keeps sliding after you let go of the key. Watergirl does the opposite. She slows down, but she can walk up icy slopes that Fireboy simply cannot climb. In the Ice Temple, the two heroes often need different routes. Fireboy can race across a long frozen floor in seconds, while Watergirl takes the steep path that would send him sliding back down.

Beams That Freeze and Melt the Water

Light returns in the Ice Temple with a new job. Some coloured beams freeze pools of water into solid ice, and others melt that ice back into water. Neither hero freezes or melts anything directly. Instead, you stand on buttons, pull levers or push mirrors and sliders to aim the beams. A frozen pool can be walked across, so freezing a pond can open a shortcut, while melting it again might be the only way to reach a gem. Think about the order of each change, because a pool that helps Watergirl one moment can trap Fireboy the next.

Air Jets, Mirrors and Familiar Switches

Some rooms in the Ice Temple add air jets that lift the heroes to higher ledges, and later levels include switches that change which jet is blowing. Angled mirrors and light rays carry over from earlier games, along with levers, timed buttons, lifts, seesaws and pushable blocks. This mix of old tools and new ice rules keeps the Ice Temple fresh without making it confusing.

Splitting the Keyboard Between Two Heroes

Fireboy moves with the arrow keys, and Watergirl moves with W, A and D, with W used to jump. The Ice Temple is designed for two players sharing one keyboard, but you can also control both heroes on your own.

The elemental rules from the series still apply. Fireboy is safe in lava but dies in water. Watergirl is safe in water but dies in lava. Green goo destroys both of them. Fireboy can only collect red gems, and Watergirl can only collect blue gems, so you need to share the work.

Habits That Earn an A Rank in the Ice Temple

Your rank at the end of each level depends on how many gems you collected and how fast you finished. Get every gem under the time limit for an A. Manage only one of those for a B. Miss both and you will see a C.

Tap, do not hold. When Fireboy is on ice, short taps give you far more control than holding the key down. Start your stop early, because he keeps gliding after you let go.

Read the room first. Before you move, look for every pool, beam, mirror and jet in the Ice Temple level. Work out which pools need to be frozen and which need to stay liquid, then plan the order.

Use Watergirl on the slopes. Because she can climb icy ramps, she is often the hero who reaches the high switches.

Practise the tricky rooms. Most players need a few runs to learn an Ice Temple level. Then chase a faster time.

Where Fireboy and Watergirl 3 Sits in the Series

The adventure began with the Forest Temple in 2009, which you can play on our homepage. The Light Temple followed in 2010 and built its puzzles around mirrors and light beams. The Ice Temple arrived in 2012 and took those beams in a new direction by letting them turn water into ice and back again. After that came the Crystal Temple. Fireboy and Watergirl Ice Temple is a favourite for many players because its puzzles feel clever without being unfair.

The original release was widely described as having 36 levels, and they grow harder as you go. Later Ice Temple rooms combine sliding, freezing, melting and air jets in a single puzzle.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Ice Temple

Ice speeds Fireboy up and keeps him moving after you release the key. Use short taps and begin stopping early, especially near edges, pools and lava.
